Celebrate Local Art and Legends at The Rice Museum's Prevost Gallery

The Rice Museum's Prevost Gallery is proud to present "Director's Circle," a captivating art exhibition that brings together a diverse collection of talented artists with deep roots in Georgetown, SC. Running from August 5th to August 26th, 2023, this must-see event promises to immerse visitors in the rich cultural tapestry of the region.


The exhibition features five original watercolors by Russ Bratcher, a Georgetown native, showcasing his artistic mastery in conveying the timeless legends of Georgetown, SC.


Additionally, Loretta Babe Grayson's folk fabric art inspired by Africa adds a vibrant and unique touch, representing the interweaving of cultures in this coastal town.


Charles E. Williams, another native artist, contributes two remarkable pieces: a captivating study of a marsh and a breathtaking portrait. Williams' deep connection to Georgetown is evident in the soulful essence of his creations.


Esther Sharp's coastal works transport viewers to the stunning shoreline of Georgetown, capturing the essence of the local scenery through her masterful brushstrokes.



The much-anticipated opening ceremony for "Director's Circle" will be held on Saturday, August 5th, from 2 PM to 4 PM, at The Rice Museum's Prevost Gallery. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artists and gain insights into the inspiration behind their extraordinary creations.


"We are thrilled to showcase the remarkable talent of our local artists and their deep-rooted connection to Georgetown's heritage," said museum director, Jim Fitch. "Director's Circle celebrates the rich artistic legacy of our community and invites visitors to discover the beauty of our region through the eyes of these gifted individuals."


Admission to the exhibition and opening ceremony is free, making it a perfect opportunity for art enthusiasts, history buffs, and families to come together and appreciate the creativity that has flourished in Georgetown, SC.

We met Loretta on our visit to rice museum. She has an extraordinary sense of humour and a deep and sensitive understanding of the culture in Georgetown. Our group continues to comment on the amazing facts we learned in our tour of this fabulous venue. It was an enjoyable visit and we loved seeing this area through the eyes of this amazing woman.
