Russ Bratcher

About the Artist

Russ works as a photographer with a passion for capturing the beauty of the world around him. He grew up in Georgetown, South Carolina surrounded by Southern culture and coastal beaches, which sparked his interest in photography and art at a young age.


After high school, Russ served in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Metals Technologist and served at RAF Mildenhall, UK. Russ graduated from The Art Institute of Charleston where he studied media arts. He then continued his education at Coastal Carolina University earning a Master in Fine Arts degree in art education. After graduating, he taught art education for over a decade working with students along the coast of South Carolina.


Today, Russ works as a freelance photographer and travels the world to capture the sights and sounds of different cultures. He likes working with natural lighting, creating unique memories and capturing moments for all of his clients.


A major body of work that he has created is his Musicians of the South series. The inspiration of this work has been from New Orleans, LA, and Charleston, SC. This work is watercolor on paper. Russ has worked from a young age under the guidance of Bruce Chandler. He attributes a great deal of his painting success to her.
