Autumn in Sicily
The spectacular island of Sicily is the focus of the next Rice Museum art and Architecture tour, November 6-12, 2010.  The magical part of the Italian nation has been the center of many civilizations over the centuries.  Greeks, Romans, Arabs, French and Spanish, as well as the Italians have all claimed domination over the island at one time or another.  Traces of these dynamic cultures are ours to behold as we visit Sicily.  The tour begins in Palermo with three nights in the four-star Plaza Opera Hotel.  From this magnificent  location we take day trips to visit Monreale, Erice, Cefalu, Marsala, and other sites of interest.  The next three nights are centered in the fabulous beach city of Taormina in the lovely four-star Hotel Villa Diodoro.  Tours from Taormina include the ramains of the bustling Greek colony at Agrigento, the Roman ruins of Syracuse, and a special jeep safari of Mt. Etna.  There will also be ample free time for shopping and exploring on your own.  The tour is escorted by Rice Museum Director James Fitch and is limited to 15 travelers.

The cost of the tour (land only) is $1895.00 per person, double occupancy.  This includes six nights in the above mentioned hotels or similar properties, airport transfers, daily breakfast, two dinners, four lunches and one wine tasting.  it also includes air conditioned coach, English speaking tour director, admissions to sites, and hotel and city taxes.  Airfare is NOT included, but it can be arranged through our travel agent, if requested.  For more information on the tour or to sign up to go, contact The Rice Museum 843-546-7423 or email thericemuseum@sc.rr.com.
